Connect VS Code
About 2 minutes. You need a Sharedrop account.
Install the CLI
In a terminal (VS Code's own terminal works), run:
npm install -g @sharedrop/cliThis needs Node.js 20.10 or later.
sharedrop loginA browser window opens once. Approve the sign-in, then check it with sharedrop whoami. It shows your Sharedrop username.
Add the skill
npx skills add ShareDropCloud/skills --skill sharedrop -gThe skill teaches VS Code when and how to use the CLI.
Check it worked
VS Code replies with a sharedrop.cloud link that opens your new page, private to you until you share it.
If it doesn't work
- The terminal says
command not found: close and reopen the terminal. If it still fails, runnode --versionand update Node.js if it is older than 20.10. sharedrop whoamidoes not show your username: runsharedrop loginagain.- VS Code answers without a link: start a new session so it picks up the skill, or say "use the sharedrop CLI" in your request.
Other way: add Sharedrop as a connector
Use this only if you can't install the CLI. The connector signs you in through the browser, so you don't need an API key.
-
Click Add to VS Code.
Or add this to
.vscode/mcp.jsonin your project. VS Code usesservershere, notmcpServers.{ "servers": { "sharedrop": { "type": "http", "url": "https://sharedrop.cloud/api/mcp" } } } -
When VS Code asks, sign in to Sharedrop in the browser.
See Connector (MCP) for more, or the CLI Guide for every command.
