Workspaces and seats

A workspace is a shared space for a team. Everyone in it can see its pages, and members can upload to it. Workspaces are part of the Team plan.

Free and Pro are personal plans: everything you upload goes to your own account, with no workspace needed.

Creating a workspace

Choose Upgrade to Team under the workspace switcher in the dashboard sidebar (or Get Team on the pricing page), give the workspace a name, and continue to checkout. Team costs A$29 a month for up to 3 people, then A$7 a month for each extra member. Viewers are free.

The workspace is created once the payment goes through, usually within a few seconds, and you are its owner. If you leave checkout without paying, no workspace is created and nothing is charged.

Each workspace has its own Team plan, paid separately from your personal plan. You can create as many as you like, whether you are on Free or Pro.

A workspace can only be created this way. One created some other way (for example straight through the sign-in provider) is deleted within moments.

Joining a workspace

Anyone can join a workspace they are invited to, on any plan, including Free. Joining does not need a Team plan of your own: the workspace's Team plan covers it.

How many people a workspace holds

A Team workspace has no member limit. Each extra member adds a billed seat.

If a workspace's Team plan ends, the workspace holds up to 3 people, counting owners, members and viewers, until Team is renewed. Inviting a fourth person from the dashboard or the API is refused with a prompt to renew. If someone is added past the limit another way (for example through the organization screen in the account menu), they are removed from the workspace straight away.

How Team seats are billed

  • Owners and members each use a billed seat. Viewers are free.
  • The Team base price covers the first 3 seats. Every seat after that is billed per seat, prorated for the rest of the billing period.
  • Adding a member, or changing a viewer to a member, adds a seat when every paid seat is already in use.
  • Seats are never reduced automatically. If someone leaves or becomes a viewer, or you bought spare seats, those seats stay paid for until you lower the seat count on the workspace's billing page. You cannot go below the number of owners and members.

If the billing update for a seat change fails (for example a payment provider outage), the member still joins. The seat change is retried automatically every hour until it goes through, and the failure is logged for our team. A regular check also compares each Team workspace's billed seats with its owners and members and corrects any gap.

Custom domains

A Team workspace has its own custom domain, separate from any member's personal one. Team includes it at no extra charge, nothing is billed to a member's personal plan, and the domain stays with the workspace when people join or leave. Only the workspace owner can add, remove or brand it.

If you use the API, the CLI or MCP

Workspaces are created and joined in the dashboard, not through the API, the CLI or MCP. Once you are in a workspace, uploading to it with --workspace <id> (CLI) or workspace_id (MCP) works the same whatever your personal plan, because the workspace's Team plan applies.
